Cooking and Nutrition

The food service at L’Abbraccio Children’s Hospital is a central component of the nutritional care system, working in direct collaboration with the Nutrition Center and the clinical departments.

Beyond simply preparing meals, this service plays a key role in supporting patient recovery, particularly for hospitalized children and newborns.

The service provides:

  • daily meal preparation for hospitalized children
  • the provision of meals to mothers of newborns receiving care in the neonatal unit
  • the production of specialized nutritional preparations, particularly those based on fortified flours, for children suffering from malnutrition

the adaptation of dietary intake to the specific needs of young patients

We pay particular attention to tailoring preparations to the needs of malnourished children

The department works in close coordination with the Nutrition Center and medical teams to ensure consistent and effective management of patients’ nutritional needs.

It also contributes to promoting enriched and adapted local dietary practices, with a focus on sustainability and community ownership.

Through this service, L’Abbraccio Children’s Hospital is reinforcing its commitment to an integrated approach to health, in which nutrition is a key component of care and prevention.
